Open Gardens 2018 – Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse
October 20, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Richard and Mouse Poynton
With formal lines, this large garden surrounds Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. It has a Victorian herb garden and vegetable garden for picking fresh herbs and salad ingredients for the hotel. The moonlight garden is filled with white flowers for evening sundowners. The Cleopatra Mountain and Mount Lebanon overlook the garden, and paths lead to the Little Mooi River.
Directions: Take the N3 towards Johannesburg and turn off at the Nottingham Road off ramp (exit 132). Continue into Nottingham Road village (travel under the railway bridge) and then through Nottingham Road on the R103 north to Rosetta. At Rosetta turn left opposite the Ugly Duckling and follow the Kamberg Road. Stay on the tar road for 30km until you reach the Cleopatra, Dondini and Silver Hill sign (also Highmoor & Glengarry sign). Turn left onto this dirt road and travel for 5km until you reach a single lane bridge. Approximately 500m after the bridge the road turns sharply to the left to climb the mountain. At this corner you will see a concrete wall with a sign to Cleopatra.
