Open Gardens 2018 – Crab Apple – KZN
November 3, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Barend and Helen Booysen, Farm No 13, D707 off D17, Dargle
Crab Apple is situated at the end of a country lane lined with ‘Albertine’ roses on the edge of an extensive yellowwood forest. This informal, east-facing garden is characterised by its numerous roses, including a lovely selection of David Austin roses. Clivias occur here naturally and feature prominently along with arums, which line the stream. Visitors often describe the garden in terms like ‘peace, serenity and harmony’.
Directions: On the N3 North take the Howick North/Tweedie exit and turn left to Tweedie. At the T-junction turn right onto the R103 through Lions River to the Dargle/Impendle turn-off (just before Piggly-Wiggly). Take this road and travel 6km on tar to the D17 turnoff to your right. Travel 2km on gravel. Turn left onto the D707. Travel 1km until you see the Crab Apple Chapel parking sign on your right. The garden is 250m further along the country lane following the Crab Apple signs.
