Protea Pink Ice
The hardiest of all proteas – Pink ice is well suited to low maintenance, low water use gardens. They produce spectacular flowers, fresh or dried. Pink ice will also attract birds to the garden and feed friendly honeybees.
These proteas flower from January to April and can grow up to 2,5 meters high. As such, they work particularly well as screening plants. Once established, Pink ice bushes will be moderately frost-tolerant, so plan ahead before planting them. They enjoy sandy, rocky soil with good drainage and a mulch low in phosphorus. To maintain their shape, cut back after flowering.
Top tip: These proteas work well in large containers too. Water them daily and plat in acidic soil.
