A Garden Treasure Hunt with Painted Rocks

Treasure hunts are not only for pirates! Get your kids involved in a garden treasure hunt using colourfully painted rocks. This adventure will keep them busy for hours!

What You Need:

  • A large bag of smooth white stones which you can purchase from your local garden centre
  • Craft paint
  • Apron or big old t-shirt
  • Paint brushes
  • Glitter glue
  • A little imagination!

Step 1:

Pop on aprons or shirts over the kids clothes so they can feel comfortable about getting messy! Then …

… let them spend the better part of a day painting as many rocks as they want to with their favourite colours and patterns.

They should be gainfully employed for many hours with unyielding enthusiasm!

They can even use glitter glue to add a little sparkle to their treasures too.

Step 2:

Once the rocks have dried, tell the kids to go inside and not to peak while you hide them around the garden.

A few great spots would be in flower pots, among the foliage and you can even leave a few lying on the lawn or patio.

Step 3:

Give the kids a plastic bag or basket to collect their treasure in. Let the hunt begin!
